Ceræ is an open-access, award-winning, peer-reviewed journal directed by a committee of international graduate students and early career researchers. We are united in our commitment to open access publishing, the innovative possibilities of the digital humanities, and to forging a strong community of medieval and early modern scholars.
Volunteering for Ceræ provides invaluable experience in operating a journal – from drafting calls for papers, accepting article submissions, being a part of the review process, copyediting, through to publicity, fundraising, and other back-end operations – skills that will make you more competitive in the academic job market. In addition to the publication of the journal, we also hold an online conference each year in April, and new committee members will have the opportunity to be involved with the process of organising and conducting a digital conference.
Ceræ’s Editorial Committee rotates each volume and there are currently openings for new committee members for Volume 14:
- Deputy Editor
- Social Media Manager
- Friends of Ceræ Officer
- General Committee Member
A commitment of 12-15 months is expected from committee members (12 months in their role + 3 months of handover/training). Committee members are also entitled to receive Friends of Ceræ supporter benefits at the Amicus tier.
To nominate yourself for a vacant committee member position, please complete the Ceræ Committee External Nomination Form and return via email to the Secretary by 27 October, 2026. The nomination form can also be found on the website on our Committee page. Please direct any further queries not covered by information included on the last page of the nomination form to the Secretary email as above.
Ceræ also encourages early career researchers as well as more established scholars who would like to join our extensive peer-review network to contact the journal at the same email address.
